The Polana Caniço Health and Demographic Surveillance System (HDSS) participants are based in the Polana Caniço neighbourhood in Maputo City, Mozambique. The sample includes over 15,000 participants of all ages from 2,800 households. At the baseline HDSS assessment, 51% of the participants involved were female and two-thirds were aged between zero and 29 years old.
