Sample details

This birth cohort was established as an evidence base for data on long-term health, health service use, and health outcomes after sustaining a traumatic brain injury (TBI) that required medical attention. The cohort includes all individuals born in publicly funded hospitals in Ontario, Canada, between 1992 and 2020. There are over 3.6 million newborns in this cohort, who were all followed from birth until the end of the follow-up period, migration out of the province, or death. During the study period, 854,412 individuals had at least one TBI-related healthcare visit.
