This study aimed to examine the cost of unsafe abortions in Uganda. Recruited participants were women aged at least 15 who were receiving post-abortion care for complications of abortion at one of 39 health facilities across Uganda. At baseline, over 1,300 participants were interviewed, and over 500 participants were re-interviewed at follow-up 2-3 months later. Health providers were also interviewed to provide more information about participant treatment. The study was completed in 2012.
