Sample details

This study aimed to assess the burden of herpes zoster (HZ) and post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN) among people aged 50 years and older in France, in terms of healthcare resources used, medical direct and indirect costs, as well as pain severity and impact on quality of life. Participants aged 50 years and older who presented to their doctor with their first HZ outbreak were recruited by healthcare providers across France. Over 100 participants completed baseline assessment beginning in 2016. All participants were followed up for 3 months and participants with PHN were also followed up after 6 and 9 months.
