The PPHS is a longitudinal study launched in 2001 to track socio-economic development across 16 districts in Pakistan. It includes 4,142 households, starting with 2,721 rural households from the 1990–91 International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) panel, and expanded in 2004 and 2010 to include 1,421 urban households. Participants were selected using stratified and targeted sampling with follow-ups occurring 2001, 2004, and 2010.
