Cohort Study in Primary Health Care on the Evolution of Patients with Prediabetes (PREDAPS)
PREDAPS aimed to investigate the incidence of diabetes mellitus and related cardiovascular complications. The study recruited prediabetic participants from across Spain aged 30 to 74 years with a fasting plasma glucose value of 100-125 mg/dl or an HBA1c value of 5.7 - 6.4% in the six months before recruitment. At baseline in 2012, over 1,000 participants meeting one or both criteria were included in the study. The study also recruited over 800 participants without glucose metabolism disorders. Participants were followed up annually for five years.
