This study aimed to assess the predictors of depressive symptoms in a population-based cohort exposed to ongoing and widespread terrorism. Interviews of a representative sample of adults aged 18 years or older living in Israel, including both Jews and Arabs, were conducted between August and September 2004, with follow-up interviews taking place between February and April 2005. Around 1,600 Israeli residents participated in the baseline interview. Of these participants, 80.8% were Jewish, 49.4% were male, and the mean age of the sample was 43 years.
