PreMark aimed to examine the relationship between homocysteine (tHcy) concentrations in early pregnancy and the subsequent development of gestational hypertension (GH) or preeclampsia, as well as the relationship between tHcy concentrations and pregnancy loss and small for gestational age (SGA) infants. From 2002 to 2005, the study recruited 2,200 pregnant women before 20 weeks of pregnancy in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Participants were followed up at their 20th week of gestation and after delivery.
