This study was designed to understand the changes in brain structure and function that underlie the elevated rates of inattention, anxiety and autism spectrum symptoms. From 2007, the study recruited 137 very preterm participants (23 to 30 weeks of gestational age) and 165 full-term participants (37 to 41 weeks of gestational age) with high rates of psychosocial adversity. Participants have been followed since birth, with data obtained from medical records at birth, and assessments at ages 2, 5, and 9-10 years. The study plans an additional follow-up at age 14-15 years.
