Prevalence of clinical-level emotional/behavioural problems in schoolchildren during the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic in Japan

This prospective cohort study aimed to investigate pandemic-related emotional and behavioral problems and their risk factors among schoolchildren in Japan. The study recruited participants from a large Japanese online survey company with over 2.2 million members. Parents with children aged 6 to 18 were invited to participate in the Wave 1 survey in March 2020. The Wave 2 survey was conducted in May 2020, with 3,847 respondents (80.1% of Wave 1 participants) completing.
