PRIMHD collects mental health and addiction service activity and outcome data for all users of Health New Zealand—Te Whatu Ora, New Zealand's publicly funded healthcare system. Data is collected on all users of mental health and addiction services across New Zealand, including residential, inpatient, and community-based care. The database records whether a family member of the service user was involved in the service use. Interventions based on the Māori and other Pacific peoples' cultures are also recorded in the dataset. PRIMHD includes data from 2001 from the Mental Health Information National Collection (MHINC). In 2022, over 175,000 individuals used mental health services and were registered in the database.
