Sample details

PROGR-S is an ongoing cohort study from the Groningen province in the Netherlands, following patients with recent-onset psychosis, i.e., persons experiencing psychotic symptoms for over 2 years. The baseline participants were recruited between 1997 and 2009. The majority had been diagnosed with a psychotic spectrum disorder and a substantial number of the patients had depressive symptoms (78%) and current cannabis or alcohol use (75%). The average age was 27 and two-thirds were male, the average IQ was lower than that in the healthy control group, and most participants were not in a relationship and were unemployed.
