BACK
Sample details

This study involved 253 young people living with HIV and 263 caregivers recruited from 14 sites across Botswana. Participants were recruited between March 16, 2019, and July 27, 2019, through systematic sampling and recruitment by Sentebale staff. Young people who were due to start attending or had recently started attending the Sentebale programme were screened for eligibility by Sentebale staff. If eligible, they and their caregivers were informed about the study. The young people cohort consisted of individuals aged 10 to 19 years, while the caregiver cohort was predominantly female (92%). Participants were followed up only once after baseline, with follow-up occurring between March 28, 2020, and July 4, 2020, to assess psychological, behavioural, and clinical outcomes changes.
