Psychobiology of Suicidal Behavior in Borderline Personality Disorder

This study investigated the cognitive and emotional mechanisms underlying suicidal behaviour in individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). Participants were recruited between April 2016 and March 2022 from inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient clinics, and the community in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States of America. The study comprised two cohorts: 171 adults with BPD and 143 adults with MDD. Participants were followed up daily for 21 days, completing a 21-day ecological momentary assessment protocol.
