Sample details

The RCCS is an open, population-based cohort of over 12,000 residents of the Rakai region in Uganda. While the RCCS initially focused on adults residents aged between 15 and 49 years old, the scope was expanded to include older participants in 2021. Participants were recruited into the cohort through a household census conducted prior to each survey visit in 30 continuously surveyed agrarian, trading, and fishing communities in the region.
