Using routinely collected healthcare data, the RCGP RSC Sentinel Network monitors the UK population's infectious disease and public health trends. Data is extracted from the computerised medical records of patients registered at over 100 GP practices around the UK. As of 2016, the register includes over 1 million participants. Since its inception, the study has continuously enrolled more participants, expanding to its current size to enhance the robustness of its surveillance data. Patient data is extracted twice weekly, ensuring timely and accurate data collection for ongoing public health monitoring.
