The RECCyL was a population-based cohort study launched in 2004 to track the development of major cardiovascular risk factors. A total of 4,013 participants aged 15 and older were randomly selected from the public health registry and assessed in local primary care centres. The cohort included both men and women from urban and rural areas across Castilla y León, Spain. Participants were followed up twice, first in 2009 and again in 2014, through repeat health examinations that included interviews, physical measurements, and blood tests.
