The REMEDY study is a prospective, international, multicenter, hospital-based registry aiming to document the presentation, clinical course, complications, and treatment practices among patients with rheumatic heart disease (RHD). Between January 2010 and November 2012, around 3,300 patients were enrolled from 25 centers in 14 countries (12 African countries, Yemen, and India) and they were followed up for up to 2 years to assess mortality, congestive heart failure, stroke or transient ischemic attack, recurrent acute rheumatic fever, and infective endocarditis. Patients underwent two follow-up visits, one at 12 months and one at 24 months.
