This study has two aims. First, to validate a new burnout questionnaire instrument suitable for research and practice. Second, to investigate how leadership that empowers and values employees supports self-directed activity and thus promotes employee resilience. The study consists of three sub-datasets. Two sub-datasets are cross-sectional surveys of Finnish working-age people and occupational healthcare customers. The third, longitudinal sub-dataset was an online survey of the employees of seven organisations in Finland. Data was collected in 2019, 2020 and 2021. Around 4,000 to 5,000 participants completed each wave, and just over 1,700 completed all three surveys.
