The Reykjavik study aimed to investigate cardiovascular health. The study randomly recruited men and women born between 1907 and 1935 and currently living in Reykjavik, Iceland, and adjacent communes on December 1, 1966. Participants were randomised into six cohorts based on the day and year of their birth and invited to participate in data collection in stages. This resulted in a baseline cohort of over 30,000 participants.
