Sample details

The ITR has enrolled approximately 29,000 twins across Italy, with ongoing registration across all age groups nationwide, including both identical and fraternal twins. At inception, there was an even gender split, and the majority of the twins resided in the northern area of Italy. The distribution of twin pairs varies by year of birth, with around 20% of the twins being monozygotic.
