ROOTS was established to investigate how genetic, physiological, psychological, and social variables contribute to the overall risk of psychopathology. Participants were recruited from 18 secondary schools across Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, at age 14. This resulted in a baseline cohort of over 1,200 adolescents from a variety of socioeconomic circumstances.
