Sample details

The RCCS was established in the rural area of Xin’an, a county under the administration of Luoyang, Henan Province, in the middle of China. The study began in 2007 and aimed to curb the increasing prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by investigating the disease patterns and secular incidence trends for NCDs and the risk factors in this rural population. Over 20,000 participants aged 18 years and older were recruited at baseline examination; 17,265 were re-examined in 2013 and 2014, with a response rate of 85.5%. At baseline, the median age for men and women was 53 and 50 years, respectively.
