The RYCS follows a cohort of 3,000 young people aged between 15 and 35 years from five urban healthcare catchment areas in Rafsanjan city, Iran. One year after enrolment, half of the participants were followed up by phone call and the rest via an in-person interview. The RYCS began as one of the hub centers of the Persian Youth Cohort which was launched in 2016, in order to evaluate psychiatric disorders and problems, such as illegal drugs and other high-risk behaviors, accidents, and injuries in Rafsanjan. The RYCS is also an extension of the Rafsanjan Cohort Study.
