Sample details

The SLS is a project aimed at understanding the long-term effects of early life conditions on health and development. Participants were recruited as infants between 1991 and 1996 from four working-class communities in the southeast area of Santiago, Chile. Initially, the cohort included 1,657 participants, with approximately 1000 participants remaining in the cohort, now aged 29 to 34 years. Participants have consistently been followed up, including at ages 1, 5, 10, 12, 14, 16, 21, 23, and 29 years, and the study continues to follow up with participants.
