SAPRIN is a harmonized national network of health and demographic surveillance system (HDSS) nodes in communities in South Africa. Each SAPRIN node is a fully functioning HDSS, which includes all individuals in the area. The network started in 2016, captures up-to-date, representative, and longitudinal data, and enables the alignment to national datasets, civil registration systems, health facility data, electronic medical records, and labour and educational outcomes.
