SBTS follows over 550 children and their parents since 2004. The participants were recruited from a commercial mailing list of families with a 3-year-old child living in a 20-mile radius of Stony Brook University. Eligibility criteria included having a 3-year-old child with no significant medical disorder or developmental disability and a biological parent with the ability to read and write English.
