Sample details

SCAMP follows a cohort of teenagers from London and their long-term use of mobile phones and wireless technology. SCAMP recruited Year 7 students aged 11 to 12 years old from 39 eligible schools within the Greater London area, selected from the Department for Education’s register of educational establishments (EduBase) and the January 2012 school census. Participants have been followed up four times: wave 1 (2014 - 2016), wave 2 (2016 - 2018), wave 3 (2020), wave 4 (2020 - 2021) and wave 5 (2022 - 2023). For wave 5, SCAMP recruited 80 new students to participate in a research challenge and contribute to the wave 5 data collection phase.
