St George's Cognition and Neuroimaging in Stroke (SCANS)

A total of 121 patients with MRI-confirmed lacunar stroke and leukoaraiosis were enrolled in the prospective SCANS study. Patients attended one baseline and three annual cognitive assessments, providing 36-month follow-up data. Patients were recruited from the inpatient and outpatient stroke services of three hospitals in South London, United Kingdom (St George’s, King’s College, and St Thomas’ Hospitals) between 2007 and 2010 and were followed up annually with cognitive assessment and MRI.
