Sample details

SCAPIS is a population‐based multi-centre cohort study investigating cardiovascular disease (CVD) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in Sweden. Between 2013 and 2018, over 30,000 individuals aged 50-64 years were randomly selected from the Swedish population register and assessed at six Swedish university hospitals (Gothenburg, Linköping, Malmö/Lund, Stockholm, Umeå and Uppsala), with each site recruiting around 5000 individuals from the respective municipality areas. The participants are monitored annually for future health events through linkage with national registers, and in 2024-2025, half of the individuals included at baseline were re-examined.
