The SFMR Registry is a population-based research database designed to evaluate the performance of breast imaging and its relationship to breast cancer outcomes, comprising over 178,000 women recruited from radiology facilities across the San Francisco Bay Area. Participants were enrolled beginning in 1985 during routine breast imaging visits, where they completed health history questionnaires. Participants are followed up annually through repeated imaging and cancer outcome tracking via linkage with the California Cancer Registry and the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) program.
