The Shanghai Allergy Birth Cohort is an ongoing prospective birth cohort. Women in the third trimester (29 to 41 gestational weeks) of pregnancy were recruited during June 2012 to March 2015 from two tertiary-level hospitals in Shanghai, China (Xinhua Hospital and the International Peace Maternity and Child Health Hospital). A total of 1,143 mother-infant pairs were enrolled in the study as a baseline. Of these pairs, 743 pairs (65%) completed the 5-year follow-up visit (including 198 in telephone interview).
