SCS is a prospective cancer epidemiology cohort of 18,244 male residents of Shanghai, China, who were aged 45-64 years at recruitment in 1986-89. Since baseline, surviving participants have been followed up for the occurrence of cancer, death, and major health outcomes through linkage as well as with in-person interviews on an annual basis from 1990 to 2012, and biannually since 2013.
