SIVMS was a prospective, population-based study aimed at tracking the detection, frequency, and natural history of individuals with intracranial vascular malformations (IVMs). The study recruited 190 eligible participants over the age of 16, living in Scotland, and who had a diagnosis (after January 1999) of IVM. They were recruited by neurological and neuroimaging clinicians in Scotland between 1st January 1999 and 31st December 2003. Once recruited, participants receive annual questionnaires. Two sub-studies were also included within this study: the Health-related Quality of Life and Genetic Influences add-on projects. Data collection ended in 2003.
