The SoFIE aimed to provide information about changes over time in the economic well-being of individuals and their families, and about factors influencing those changes. Participants were over 29,000 household members from 11,500 households across New Zealand. Participants completed a household questionnaire and those aged 15 years and older also completed a personal questionnaire. Baseline data collection took place from 2002 to 2003 and participants were followed up annually until 2010. The SoFIE-Health add-on, focused on participants physical and mental health, was included in waves 3, 5 and 7.
