Sample details

STR focuses on understanding the genetic and environmental influences on various traits, behaviours, and diseases. The registry recruits twins of all ages and sexes from across Sweden. It includes specific cohorts such as Screening Across the Lifespan Twin Study (SALT) born 1886-1925, TwinGene (born 1959-1985), Study of Twin Adults — Genes and Environment (STAGE) born 1959-1985, and Child and Adolescent Twin Study in Sweden (CATSS) born 1992-2010. At baseline in 1961, over 21,000 participants were included. As of 2012, over 194,000 participants are included in the register. Follow-up intervals vary by cohort, ranging from every few years to more frequent intervals, ensuring comprehensive and ongoing data collection.
