The Swedish Young Male Twins Study was a population-based cohort that was founded in 1997 through record-linkages of several national registers, focused on the biological risk factors for cardiovascular disease and insulin resistance among young adults in Sweden. The sample included over 2,800 male twin individuals born in Sweden between 1973 and 1979 and residing in Sweden in 1997. Follow-up assessments were conducted in 1998, 2002 and 2005 to 2006.
