The TBCS is a nationwide representative study of children followed from birth in Taiwan, based on socioecological and life-course perspectives. The TBCS documents the health trajectories of Taiwanese children and investigates the influence of social environments on their well-being over their life course. The sample of over 21,000 participants was selected to be nationally representative of all live births in Taiwan between 1 January 2005 and 31 December 2005. Of the children, 52.5% were boys, and 2.6% were twins.
