The TBED-C study population is formed of families categorised as 'population-based' or 'at risk', with 528 and 502 families in each category respectively. The families were recruited through twins from the Michigan State University Twin Registry (MSUTR). The total sample included 435 male twin pairs, 409 female twin pairs, and 186 opposite-sex pairs. Of the same sex pairs, approximately half were monozygotic. Of the whole sample, 81% identified as white, 10% as black, 6% multiracial, and the remaining participants Asian, Latinx and multiracial. The families were contacted up to five times, with 66% of the sample completing three assessments and 96% completing two.
