Sample details

The present study introduces a method to enable comparison between sports performances of different generations and creates performance benchmarks for future elites in speed skating. Participants in this study were Dutch ice skaters, aged between 13 and 26 years. Over 2,800 skater results were linked, and of these, 63% were male. All participants had competed for at least six seasons between 1993 and 2013, with at least one result from when they were aged 16 years or younger.
