The Danish Birth Cohort Studies were set up to assess secular trends in the health and functioning of the very old. These studies include 4 birth cohorts of participants born in 1895, 1905, 1910, and 1915 in Denmark. The 1910 Danish Birth Cohort included 273 participants. Almost 30% of participants were proxy interviewees. Males participated more than females, and non-participants had a higher 6-month mortality rate than participants.
