Sample details

The Danish Birth Cohort Studies include 4 birth cohorts of participants born in 1895, 1905, 1910, and 1915. The 1915 Danish Birth Cohort included over 1,500 individuals. Participants were aged between 94 and 95 years during the first survey in 2010. Throughout the cohort, 25% were males, and 21% were proxy interviewees. Males had a higher participation rate compared with females, and non-participants had a higher 6-month mortality than participants. The study used both face-to-face and proxy interviews for data collection and in 2015, a follow-up study included all surviving birth cohort members.
