The ROOTS Study was established to investigate how genetic, physiological, psychological, and social variables occurring at different stages of child development contribute to the overall risk of psychopathology during adolescence. Participants were recruited from 18 secondary schools across Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, at age 14. This resulted in a baseline cohort of more than 1,200 adolescents from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Data collection began in April 2005, with reassessment after 18 months, 36 months, and 11 years.
