The Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) is an independent state-owned expert and research institute that promotes the welfare, health, and safety of the population of Finland. The THL Biobank is part of the FinnGen biobank consortium and is a country-wide biobank that collects and stores valuable research samples from all over the country. The THL Biobank collects new samples only in connection with new research projects initiated by THL or other research institutes.
