This study was designed to investigate survivorship after a myocardial infarction using a population in the United States of America. Participants were adults aged at least 21 years who had experienced a 1st myocardial infarction within the last 2.5 months, recruited from one of 13 participating hospitals. Participants were followed up until coronary death or another nonfatal myocardial infarction. this resulted in follow ranging from 7 - 42 months after the initial coronary event.
