Sample details

The TMM BirThree is a birth and three-generation cohort study focusing on common diseases involving the interplay between genetic and environmental factors in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake (GEJE) and the subsequent tsunami. Pregnant women and their families were recruited through clinics and hospitals in the disaster struck area in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. The cohort consists of over 23,000 newborns and their siblings, parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, resulting in over 70,000 total participants.
