The Oldest Generation Project is part of the Timescapes qualitative longitudinal studies. The study qualitatively explores the lives of older people and their family relationships over time in a sample of families with at least one member aged 75 years or older (the ‘senior’). Qualitative research is conducted with 12 families from across the United Kingdom, followed through two waves of fieldwork over an 18-month period. The 12 families are selected from approximately 40 volunteer families of Open University employees, using demographic criteria to ensure the sample is as diverse as possible.
