The TraumaTIPS cohort study investigated psychiatric morbidity following traumatic injury. Between 2005 and 2009, the study recruited 852 adult patients who presented with suspected severe injuries to level-1 trauma centres in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, with injuries sustained in a traumatic event according to the DSM-IV A1-criterion for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Baseline assessments were conducted at approximately one week post-trauma. Participants were followed up at approximately 1, 3, 6, and 12 months post-trauma, and 12 to 15 years post-trauma.
