Sample details

TREE follows the educational and employment trajectories of two nationally representative cohorts of compulsory school leavers in Switzerland from adolescence into adulthood. The first TREE cohort (TREE1) comprises over 6,300 individuals who left compulsory school in 2000. The second TREE cohort (TREE2) comprises over 8,400 individuals who left compulsory school in 2016. In 2022, 3,500 additional individuals who left compulsory school in 2016 were recruited into TREE2. Participants from both cohorts were first surveyed at the end of compulsory school at the age of approximately 15 to 16 years, and are followed up yearly until age 22-23, and subsequently every two to five years.
