Sample details

The Toledo Study for Healthy Aging a population-based longitudinal study following a sample of over 2,000 institutionalized and community-dwelling individuals aged 65 years and over, who reside in the province of Toledo, Spain. The sample is composed of two cohorts: the historic cohort, which is formed of participants aged 77 and older from a previous study (the Toledo Study); and the new cohort, comprised of individuals aged 65-76 years. Both cohorts were selected by a two-stage random sampling of the municipal census of the province of Toledo. At baseline in 2006-2009, the sample was 56% female, and comprised 24% of the population aged 65 and older living in Toledo.
